Adding tasks
How to turn a real assignment into a Myzo task in about 30 seconds.
Updated 2026-09-07
A task in Myzo is just one thing you have to do for school. Math homework. A history essay. Studying for a science quiz. When you add a task, Myzo puts it on your Today dashboard, tracks how long you spend on it, and gives you XP for finishing it.
Adding your first task
Tap + Add Task at the top of your Today dashboard.
Type in the name. Something short like "Math Chapter 3" or "History essay draft."
Pick the subject — Math, English, Science, History, or Other. If you pick Other, a Class field pops up next to the dropdown — type in what you're calling it ("Spanish", "Art", "Robotics"). That class name shows up on your task chip (no "Other-" in front of it), and it'll be waiting for you the next time you pick Other on a task or a flashcard set — same list of classes is shared across both.
Pick the type. This one matters: homework, studying, reading, quiz prep, test prep, or project. Myzo uses this to figure out stuff like how many focus blocks you'll probably need and whether you can attach flashcards.
Set the due date — when it's due at school.
Pick your work days — which days you plan to actually work on it. Uncheck days you know you're busy.
Add notes if you want (optional).
Tap Save.
Done. Your task shows up on your dashboard and you can start a focus session on it whenever you're ready.
What each task type does
- Homework — regular nightly homework. Usually 1-2 focus blocks.
- Studying — reviewing material without a specific test yet. Flashcards can be attached.
- Reading — book chapters, article assignments.
- Quiz prep — studying for a quiz. Flashcards are especially useful here. When you finish, Myzo asks for your grade.
- Test prep — studying for a bigger test. Same deal — flashcards, grade tracking at the end.
- Project — bigger multi-day work. Myzo will suggest more blocks.
Editing a task
Tap a task card to expand it, then tap Edit. Change any field and save. Your parent sees the change too.
Deleting a task
Long-press the task card or open it and tap Delete. It moves to your Deleted section. You have 30 days to restore it if you change your mind. After that it's gone.
Recurring tasks
For things that happen every week — piano practice, a nightly reading log — flip the Make recurring toggle when creating the task. It'll regenerate on the same weekdays until whatever end date you set.
What's next

- The focus timer — how to actually work on a task.
- Flashcards — attach cards to a study task.
