Flashcards
How to build a flashcard set, name it, study it, and get cards to stick. Plus what to do if you don't see the flashcards tab.
Updated 2026-09-07
Flashcards are a way to study. You make a set of cards for something you're learning — a test, a quiz, or just a topic you want to get down — then run through them during focus sessions. Myzo tracks which cards keep tripping you up and shows those more often. That's how you actually get stuff to stick.
Sets are grouped by subject
Every flashcard set belongs to a subject: Math, English, Science, History, or Other. If you pick Other, Myzo asks you to type in a Class name — "Spanish", "Art", "Robotics", whatever. That class shows up on your Tasks screen too, so a class you added for flashcards is right there next time you add a Spanish task.
Naming a set
Every set gets two names:
- An automatic one Myzo makes for you — like "Science flash cards - set 2".
- One you type in yourself — like "Solar System Basics" or "Chapter 7 Vocab". This is called Name this set and it shows up as soon as the cards are ready.
The name you type is the one you'll see everywhere — on your Flashcards dashboard, on the study screen, on the set detail page. The auto-generated name is a small eyebrow above it so you always know which subject and set number it is.
Building a set
Open the Flashcards tab and tap New Set.
Pick a subject (and, for Other, type in the class name).
Either type your cards in one at a time, or tap the camera and scan a page of your notes or textbook — Myzo turns the page into cards for you.
When the cards come back, name your set on the screen that pops up. This is required — you can't skip it.
Tap Save. Your set shows up on the Flashcards dashboard with the name you gave it.
Adding more material to a set you already made
Open the set and tap Add more material. Scan another page or type in more cards; Myzo merges them into the same set — same name, same subject.
What if I don't see the Flashcards tab?
Your grown-up decides whether the Flashcards tab shows up at all. If it's not there, they've turned Flash card visibility off for you. Tap wherever you'd expect the tab (or ask them nicely) and Myzo will offer to send an access request — your parent gets a heads-up on their dashboard and can flip the switch back on from there.
What if I don't see "New Set"?
If the Flashcards tab is there but the New Set button isn't, your grown-up has turned off Let [your name] create flash cards. You can still study any sets they made for you. Tap the spot where New Set would be and Myzo will offer to send them an access request. Same idea — they get an alert and can flip the toggle in one tap.
Scanning pages instead of typing
Scanning is fast and honestly the best way to make sets for something like a vocab list or a study guide. Point your camera at the page, tap the shutter, and Myzo turns it into cards. Multiple-choice cards automatically fill in the wrong answers using bits from other cards in the set, so you never see a "dash" or an empty option.
Studying a set
Open the set and pick a study mode. For each card:
Read the front.
Try to answer in your head (or out loud).
Tap to reveal the back.
Mark yourself: Got it or Still learning.
Be honest with the self-marks. Myzo uses them to show you missed cards more often — lying to Myzo just means you'll bomb the test.
The back button exits to the mode picker
If you tap the back button on a study screen, you go back to the mode picker for the set (not one card at a time back through what you already reviewed). That way you can jump to a different mode without swiping back through 20 cards.
Long cards are scrollable
If a card has a lot of text, you can scroll inside the card. There's a gap at the bottom so the End Session button never covers the last line of the card.
Mastered cards
When you've marked a card Got it on multiple different days, Myzo marks it mastered and shows it less often so you can focus on the ones that are still tripping you up. Miss a card and its mastery counter resets — makes sense, because if you got it wrong today, you don't have it down.
Past sets
Done with a set? Move it to Past and it disappears from your main dashboard but sticks around in case you want to study it again before finals.
Editing cards
Open the set, tap any card, edit the front or back. Or delete it if it's not useful.
