Grades + progress
Reading the Progress screen, subject averages, and what the parent-side reports show you about how your kid is doing.
Updated 2026-09-07
Progress is where Myzo turns weeks of small activity into a picture you can actually read. It answers questions like: which subject is my kid strongest at? Which is slipping? How much focus time did we log this week? And is the trend going the right direction?
Progress screen
Tap Progress on your parent dashboard to open the view. Three sections:
Focus time
A weekly and monthly chart of total focused minutes. Each bar is a day; the color intensity scales with the total. A quick glance tells you whether your kid is putting in more time this week than last, and whether the load is spread evenly or crammed into one or two days.
Subject averages
If grade tracking is on, this section shows current averages per subject: Math, English, Science, History, plus every custom class your kid added under Other this school year — Spanish, Art, Robotics, whatever they've been using. There's no cap on how many custom classes show up; every one they've used this year is rendered. The same list appears on the Progress chart, the Task Timing screen, and the Score trend dropdown.
When a school year (semester) ends, active Other classes archive with it and the following year starts with a fresh registry.
Averages are calculated from graded tasks (see below) and update as new grades come in.
Achievements
A grid of every achievement your kid has ever unlocked, with dates. Useful for seeing which repeatable achievements they hit most consistently — a leading indicator of what they're most engaged with.
How grades enter the system
Grade entry is on the kid's side. When they finish a task of type test prep or quiz prep and mark it Ready to Turn In, Myzo asks them to enter the grade once they receive it. The grade attaches to the task, feeds into the subject average, and shows up on both their Progress screen and yours.
For other task types (homework, projects, reading), grade tracking is opt-in. During onboarding you picked which types get tracked; you can change that any time in Settings → Grade Tracking.
Editing a grade
You can edit any grade at any time. Tap the task on your dashboard, scroll to the Grade field, and change it. The change flows back to the kid's side and updates the subject average.
Subject-average math
Averages are a straight arithmetic mean of every grade in that subject over the current grading period. If you want a weighted average (e.g. tests count more than homework), that's not something Myzo computes — the number is a signal, not a substitute for the school's official gradebook.
Weekly summary email
Every Sunday evening, Myzo sends you a short email with the week's numbers: focus time, tasks completed, XP earned, any new achievements, grades entered. It's a five-second read designed to give you enough to notice trends without having to open the app daily.
You can turn the weekly summary off in Settings → Notifications → Email → Weekly summary.
Longer-term trends
Progress data is retained for as long as your child is on the account. If you remove a child (see Removing a child), their progress data is soft-deleted for 7 days and then permanently purged.
